From 16 to 27 July, an absolute must for moviegoers is a visit to La Nau cloister. Organised by the University of Valencia’s Cinema Hall, the third edition of Cinema Nights (Nits de cinema) is a key date in Valencia’s cultural summer calendar. The carefully-selected outdoor screenings, starting at 10pm, are grouped into two seasons. Entry is free to all sessions. Films will be in original version with subtitles, with a presentation prior to the screening, followed by a discussion later on.The first of these is Interactions with Nature (Interaccions amb natura), which includes different movies with a common theme: the relationship between humans and nature.
Films will include classics such as Nanook of the North and Land without Bread (Las hurdes, tierra sin pan) by Luis Buñuel, and animated films such as Ponyo on the Cliff by Miyazaki or more recent films such as Into the Wild, directed by Sean Penn. The second season is based on a selection of Woody Allen films, in collaboration with the Valencian Institute of Cinematography (IVAC-La Filmoteca). The four films being shown at the La Nau cloister will include comedies from his earlier work: Take the Money and Run and The Last Night of Boris Grushenko, as well as the Bergman-style Interiors and his most successful black comedy Manhattan Murder Mystery.
