The Teatro Olympia continues with it programme of humour; during the month of April they hosted Tricicle, the comic duo Muchachada Nui and a tribute to Eugenio.
From May 13-30, spectators will be able to see a promising version of the well known French comedy La cena de los idiotas (The Dinner Game), by Francis Veber. Three masters of comedy, Josema Yuste, Agustin Jimenez and Felix Alvarex (“Felisuco”) lead in a play directed by Juan Jose Alfonso that will surely make Olympia’s audiences laugh. Every Wednesday, Pierre Brochant and his friends organise a party-competition, won by the person who can bring the stupidest person. A simple task, which Veber uses to talk about things such as class differences, prejudices, and especially love, the element that permits the idiot to finally become the intelligent one.
Since it’s publication in 1993, La cena de los idiotas has turned into a true comic classic. The piece was successfully adapted to the big screen in 1998 and, since then Veber’s sincere laughter hasn’t stopped touring stages and screens around the world. This production reaches Valencia a months before the much anticipated American movie version, Dinner for Schmucks, with Steve Carrell and Paul Rudd, will be released in Spain this summer.
