Why did you decide to bet on youth and children's literature?
Few libraries are specialized in this area, but children who read today will be the great readers of tomorrow. Further reading provides a cultural background which is fundamental to education. Further, La Traca is the bookstore when more valencian books sold.

Is it true that young people read very little?
While the expansion of Benimaclet the number of readers has grown, I notice that the world of the book is living a very serious crisis. The booksellers, we do our utmost to promote reading, but our effort has consequences on a reduced scale. In order to increase reading it is necessary to organize reading plans in schools and Valencia lacks in institutional support.

Why do you continue to “gamble” on the classics?
Classics are wonderful and enriching books. We need to read it. There are adaptations in order to approach young people to literature masterpieces.

Doesn’t the publishing world create new worthy books?
There are some contemporary authors, which may be defined "contemporary classics", but most of the production today is a simple literature, which has not so much cultural value as the classics.

How do you apply this conviction in your every-day work?
I operate a careful selection, based on the authors and publishers who often publish good books. My library has books that it is impossible to found in other bookstores. Undoubtedly, by market demands I also sell bestsellers.

What is the role of the Book Fair of Valencia in the promotion of reading?
The Book Fair of Valencia is a key event for in the world of books, and it’s a very important cultural event in our city. During the 10 days duration, the Fair organizes hundreds acts to promote reading for children and adults, with a participation each year more satisfying. In the next Fair I will have a booth with other booksellers who share my philosophy. I’ll expose books following the same criteria that I use here: a careful selection of the books, classics on the front line and a wide range of books for youth and children.
